A Government of Gibraltar project for which Sharrock Shand was contracted involved executing a number of upgrades to the Bayside Sports Complex, partly as a result of Gibraltar gaining entry to the Union of European Football Associations with its specific requirements for sporting facilities for international football matches.
The project was made up of four parts including the construction of a new, 3-storey extension to the Main Stadium incorporating new changing facilities; media and delegate accommodation, and the provision of new press boxes and media seating in the main stand.
We also constructed VIP facilities to UEFA category 3 standards, a new mezzanine floor and external walkway and stairs within the existing hockey stand, creating 8 new workshop and office units.
Another important element of this project was the construction of a single storey extension to the Boathouse to create a new Stay & Play area. In addition to this, we also provided a new ground floor bar/cafeteria, a reception area, ticket office and a first floor office within the main Administration Block of the complex.
